conditions of play
EVENT DATES: THURSDAY OCTOBER 2ND, FRIDAY 3RD & COMPLETE mid afternoon
1. ENTRY CONDITIONS
The tournament is open to all registered bowlers.
The field will consist of 28 Teams (Pairs).
All players must be an affiliated bowler with a State or Territory Association that is affiliated to Bowls Australia as defined in the Bowls Australia Constitution, or affiliated to an international body that is a member of World Bowls.
Entry Preferences are given to Mainland Registered Entrants
2. ELIGIBILITY
a. Entry is open to any Female or Male registered bowler.
b. Teams will be accepted same or mixed gender.
c. Players must adhere to the terms and conditions specified.
3. FINAL FIELD
All teams must register their interest to play.
The tournament committee will determine the final field immediately following the closing date for registrations.
Teams will be advised of their inclusion in the final field via email and or social media after close of registration.
The final field is at the sole discretion of the tournament committee.
4. AWARDING OF DIRECT ENTRY TO TIBC2025 (SINGLES)
At the conclusion of this event, two (2) direct entries into the prestigious Tasmanian International Bowls Classic (TIBC) event will be awarded.
The two (2) direct entrants will be determined based on the final results of the Mad Dog Rebooted Epic Pairs.
Right of entry will be awarded to both players from the winning pairs team.
In the event that one or both of these players is already in the TIBC Singles field, the right of entry will transfer to the next highest rank team.
This process will be repeated until 2 direct entries are awarded.
Where, based on team ranking, the right of entry has been awarded to a Pairs Team where neither player is already in the TIBC Singles field, and only 1 ‘right of entry’ remains unclaimed, that Pairs Team will complete a one (1) end roll off against each. The winner of that roll off end, will receive the final entry into the TIBC field.
Please note, the TIBC Singles will be held at the Trevallyn Bowls Club the two days following the Mad Dog Rebooted Epic Pairs (October 4th & 5th).
5. ENTRY FEES
a. Entry is $100 per team.
b. All entry fees are non-refundable.
c. Entry fee does not include food and beverages while at the event. These will be available for purchase, at the host club throughout the event.
6. FORMAT
a. Three (3) Bowl Pairs
b. Players may change between Lead & Skip positions throughout the event, but must remain in the position they commenced each game in.
c. Jack to be spotted by skip.
d. No dead ends. Jack to be re-spot on the ‘T’
e. No roll up prior to any game.
f. All matches will have a scheduled start time and will commence when the match manager rings the bell/siren.
g. Matches will finish at the completion of the end following the match managers bell/siren.
h. All players are to be aware of their scheduled matches and are to at their designated rink ready to commence each game.
i. points will be allocated for each match as follows;
- winning team: 3 points
- losing team: 0 points
- in the event of a draw, each team will be awarded 1 point
At the completion of the event, team rankings will be determined by total points.
To determine final finishing positions for teams on equal points, the following tie breaker decision tree will be followed until one team ranks higher than the other;

7. ARRANGEMENT OF THE GAME
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to allocate the same rink to a player, more than once on the same day.
9. FIRST TO PLAY (Law 15.4)
The opponents should toss a coin and the winner of the toss has the options described in law 18.2.2.
10. ALTERATIONS TO THE FORMAT & LENGTH OF THE GAMES
a. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter the format, times of play and greens to suit local unforeseen circumstances, giving as much notice as practical
b. Where a program is interrupted or cannot be completed due to inclement weather or local conditions, the Tournament Committee may amend the format and length of games to achieve a result or postpone the event where an outcome cannot be achieved.
11. RESTRICTING MOVEMENT OF PLAYERS DURING PLAY
As all games are timed, it is necessary to restrict movement of players in order to keep play moving.
Players in the lead position, will only be permitted to walk up to the head after delivery of their third and final bowl. Skips may follow their second & third bowl to the head.
In exceptional and limited circumstances, the player can ask the marker to walk up to the head earlier than described above. If a player does not meet these terms, law 35 will apply.
12. DELAYING PLAY
If the umpire, either by their own observation or on appeal from one of the skips or the opponent in singles, decides that a player is deliberately delaying the delivery of the player’s bowl:
a. On the first occasion the umpire will warn the player.
b. If the player commits the same offence a second time the end will be regarded as complete and the opponents of the offender will score as many shots as there are bowls in use by such opponent.
c. If the player offends a third time the game will be forfeited to the opponent.
13. SUBSTITUTE PLAYERS
Substitute players are not permitted.
14. ATTIRE
a. As per the Laws of the Sport of Bowls, including Domestic Regulation 5. Footwear must adhere to Appendix A2. Attire must adhere to Appendix A3 and the BA logo policy. This policy is available on the Bowls Australia web site www.bowlsaustralia.com.au.
b. Failure to adhere to the BA Logo Policy will result in the offending player being given a verbal warning by the convening match umpire which will be lodged and recorded with the tournament director. The offending player will then be provided up until the forfeit time of their subsequent game to comply with the BA Logo Policy. Failure to comply by this deadline will result in the offending player being disqualified and the game forfeited to their opponent.
c. All players will wear any form of sponsorship material that is supplied by the sponsors of the event (if any).
d. All players to wear club gear or clothing bearing the BA logo.
15. STAMP ON BOWLS
All bowls used during the event must carry a registered World Bowls stamp of either the current year or of a future year. Random checking of bowls may occur prior to the commencement of games. Bowls Australia’s bowls testing policy is available on the Bowls Australia website www.bowlsaustralia.com.au. Players requiring bowls testing shall be liable for the cost of the test.
14. MARKING TOUCHERS
In all Bowls Australia events, as per the Laws of the Sport, only chalk can be used to mark touchers. We highly recommend the use of spray chalk.
15. JURY OF APPEAL
The Tournament Committee shall be appointed for the purpose of deciding upon any points not provided in the conditions of play, for dealing with any appeals from decisions made by umpires and/or the tournament committee, and generally for the purpose of exercising overall authority on behalf of Bowls Australia. In the event of an appeal during the playing of the event, such appeals shall be made in accordance with the Laws of the Sport of Bowls, and shall be directed to the Match Manager.
16. PRIZE MONEY
A breakdown of the prize money is available upon request. Any player that is disqualified or forfeits a prize money round is ineligible to receive their prize money. Limited exceptional circumstances (forfeits only), can be applied for through written application to the Match Manager.
17. OTHER LAWS, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES
a. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter the program as deemed necessary to complete the event satisfactorily.
b. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to use any photographs taken during this event for further promotional requirements. c. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter any part of the Conditions of Play as deemed necessary.
